I'm more concerned about getting the right picks in the draft rather than who we'd buy out next season. Need to start rebuilding that prospect pool ASAP, the lost first-rounder still stings.

What's everyone make of this?
I agree with danM88, getting that prospect pool replenished should be a priority for Yzerman's team, but the buyout situation can't be ignored either, as those cap hits will eventually impact our draft flexibility too. We need to balance short-term pain with long-term needs.

yea i agree with danM88 but we also need to get our spc teams on track before we worry about prospects, the power play is stil a disaster dont know how thats gonna happen next yr
Power play issues? That's nothing new.
yea but powr play issues havent been like this since lars johansson left we're def missing some magic over ther
been saying that for years now too
tbh i've been saying it too man, lars johansson would be a huge miss for our pp imo he brought a level of creativity we havent seen since
I'll never forget Lars Johansson's creativity on the power play, that boy could set up a goal from anywhere on the ice. Reminds me of Marcel Dionne, those guys knew how to make magic happen when it counted most. We're missing that kind of savvy nowadays.
I think we're anthropomorphizing Lars Johansson here. He had some decent possession numbers on the PP as a Red Wing, but "creativity" and "making magic happen" are subjective terms that don't necessarily correlate with expected goals added. His rate of high-danger chances created on the PP was respectable, but not standout compared to other players from that era.
Possession numbers don't justify nostalgia.
